Italian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers these scholarships to promote scientific and technological cooperation, international cultural exchange, and Italian language and culture. The scholarships support Italy’s economic system globally (According to Law 288/55 and its subsequent amendments). They are available for study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognized

Courses Offered: All courses organized by universities recognized by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). Applicants should verify the availability of their chosen course directly with the university.
Program Duration: Three, six, or nine months, depending on the type of course.

  1. Health and Medical Insurance: Grantees receive health and medical/accident insurance contracted by MAECI for the entire duration of the grant. Insurance coverage does not apply to events resulting from pre-existing conditions.
  2. Tuition Fees: Grantees may be exempt from enrollment and tuition fees depending on each university’s policy. Exemptions do not apply to courses in Italian language and culture, for which enrollment fees are required.
  3. Financial Grant: Grantees receive a monthly allowance of 900 euros, paid quarterly to their Italian bank account.

-Required Language: English
-Eligible Countries: Students from eligible foreign countries
-Italian Language Proficiency: Not required for courses entirely taught in English.

Age Limits
-Master’s Degree/AFAM Programs/Italian Language and Culture Courses: Applicants must be under 28 years old by the deadline, with exceptions for renewals.
-PhD Programs: Applicants must be under 30 years old by the deadline, with exceptions for renewals.
-Research Projects: Applicants must be under 40 years old by the deadline.

Academic Requirements
-Master’s Degree: Requires completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the applicant’s country of origin.
-PhD: Requires meeting the entry requirements and academic qualifications of the Italian University, along with a letter of acceptance.
-Research Projects: Requires collaboration with Italian Research Institutions and academic supervision from public universities or museums and archives.

    3. Fill Out the Application Form, Complete the online application form.
