The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship Program offers a three-year leadership program designed to train Engaged Leaders, equipping doctoral candidates with the skills to translate their ideas into action, for the betterment of their communities, Canada, and the world. While the Foundation continues to seek scholars with the greatest intellectual capacity and a track record of academic achievement, they are also looking for those demonstrating a willingness to engage with a plurality of perspectives, people, cultures, and ideologies, and who are committed to deep listening, profound curiosity, and exploring grey areas.
The Foundation welcomes applications from candidates across a wide range of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, in business schools, public health and law. Candidates’ research must be related to one or more of the Foundation’s four central themes: Human Rights and Dignity; Responsible Citizenship; Canada and the World; and, People and their Natural Environment.
Eligibility:
- You are:
- A Canadian student studying at a Canadian university
- A Canadian student studying at an international university
- An international student studying at a Canadian university
Please note: Students from international universities that are living outside Canada are not eligible.
- At the time of application, you must:
- Be in the process of completing a Master’s program
- Be in the first year of a doctoral program
- Be in your second year of a doctoral program
- Your field of study is broadly related to the humanities and social sciences or human sciences and is directly relevant to the future of Canada.
- Your doctoral work must relate to at least one of the Foundation’s four general themes:
- Human Rights and Dignity
- Responsible Citizenship
- Canada and the World
- People and their Natural Environment
Application Procedure :
- The application form can be found by registering with and logging into the Foundation’s application portal.
- Create an account on the Trudeau Foundation’s online portal
- Complete the application form
- Upload your transcripts
- Ask two referees to submit letters of recommendation
- Wait for notifications that your referees have submitted their forms
- Submit your application by the deadline at the Foundation’s application portal.
