Fulbright Foreign Student

Program

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program is a U.S. government program for international students who wish to study or conduct research in the United States. The scholarship covers tuition, living expenses, health insurance, and travel costs. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of State. This scholarship provides international students with the opportunity to: study at U.S. institutions, conduct research at U.S. institutions, broaden intercultural understanding, and collaborate internationally.

  • Reside in the country of nomination at the time of application. 
  • At the time of program start date, possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree with a good academic record.
  • Are fluent in English, as demonstrated by a recommended recent score of no less than 550 (Paper Based TOEFL), 79-80 (Internet Based TOEFL – IBT), or 6.5(Overall Score International English Language Testing System – IELTS); test scores can be submitted to IIE by indicating the institutional code 2326 on the day of the test.
  • Do not hold U.S. citizenship; dual citizens are not eligible for the program participation.

  • Completed online application at https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2026 
  • Make sure to Select/Change Award to Fulbright Graduate Student Program on the Award Information portion found on the Country Information tab on your online application page.
  • Upload the following documents to the online application portal:
    1. Official or certified transcript of records from all colleges/universities attended
    2. Certified true copy of diploma (not original)
    3. Three letters of reference (in order to register your recommendations, you must first complete the Reference Materials Waiver on the Study Plan page of your online application)
    4. NBI Clearance acquired in the past 6 months (upload as a PDF file on the Country-Specific Materials portion under the Additional Information tab
